Susan Freinkel

Susan Freinkel is an award-winning author and journalist who writes most often about science and the environment. Her book Plastic: A Toxic Love Story (Houghton Mifflin, 2011) was a finalist for the AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books and a Boston Globe best book of the year. Her previous book American Chestnut: The Life, Death and Rebirth of a Perfect Tree (UC Press, 2007) was winner of a National Outdoors Book award. A former contributing editor for OnEarth magazine, her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, Discover, Smithsonian, The Nation, Health, Reader’s Digest and other publications. She lives in San Francisco.
